I hope you’re all doing great. So, as you may have noticed, the pattern of my blog changed a lot since I began. I started this blog almost 3 years ago and I have learnt so much since then. Also, I’d like to tell you this is a 2 part post which means I’d be talking about how you can click perfect pictures easily in the second part. The second part can be viewed here. Without further ado, let’s jump into it!
CONSISTENCY: Firstly, it’s important to have a kind of a format for your blog posts. For Beauty/Makeup bloggers, it’s much convenient for your viewers if you divide the the content in several parts. This goes for Tech Bloggers too. Most bloggers who write reviews divide their content in the following parts: An introduction, About the product (Price, What the brand claims, Where it can be found etc.), Your experience (talk about the packaging, style, color, and how it worked for you), Pros and Cons, Rating and end it with a summary. This makes it easier for people to navigate and find what they’re looking for.
It’s actually up to you to decide the suitable format, but I’d say that consistency is the key. Keep your posts similar and consistent.
SCHEDULE: This is something that helps me so much in case I have exams or something important for a couple of days. I usually schedule posts ahead of time and this tool, is so, so handy. It makes sure your readers don’t miss out in important stuff.
HAVE ORIGINAL CONTENT: Original content is very important. Make sure that your content is not copied and if it is, mention it in the beginning or somewhere in between. Give credits to the original authors, wherever necessary. This is not only professional, but it also promotes others to come over and admire your blog as well. Google removes blogs which plagiarize content or don’t write original content. Don’t want that to happen with you? Well, originality is the key!
CHOOSE YOUR THEMES: Make sure your website is easy to navigate, attractive and eye-catching. Choose a suitable theme that matches the subject of your blog. For example, If you’re into cars, you could go with a metallic blue background.
DON’T USE SLANGS: If you’re a professional blogger or want to be one, do not use slangs like gimme, gonna, wanna etc. excessively. I understand if it’s something that adds a personal touch but I’d just be refraining from it. And do not use words like “Stahp”, “Hawt” etc. (Unless you’re using them to sound funny, in which case, it’s okay. ) Google makes sure that blogs that show up first in the search have high quality content with very little to zero mistakes.
PROOFREAD: I actually find a dozen mistakes when reread my blog posts. From spelling mistakes to missing punctuations, I have it all. So, make sure to double-check.
SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION: This is a WIDE, wide concept. Search Engine Optimization, as the name suggests, means optimizing your blogs to make them search engine friendly in order to get more traffic. Once your blog is Search Engine Friendly, Google starts displaying it on top.
- My tip would be to make your blog user-friendly with easy navigation.
- Don’t stuff words in keywords or “tags”, only the most relevant keywords are sufficient. Use tags that match the theme of the Blog post.
- Read your article over and over and over again.
- Google displays articles that have a minimum of 500 words, attractive photographs.
- DON’T COPY OTHERS CONTENT.
- Google will delete your blog if you do not comply with it’s terms and conditions.
- Almost no grammatical errors.
- Make sure you give proper titles, subtitles and a perfect description.
PAGE BREAK: Sometimes, your website doesn’t load fast or takes centuries to do so, that is when page breaks come in handy. Don’t know what they are? Well, sometimes, when you visit blogs, they ask you to “Read More”. That’s where the blogger has added a page break, it breaks your page into several parts. It loads your page faster too! It makes sure your reader stays engaged and reads till the end of the post.
Well, this marks the end of the list. I hope it helps you to make your blog more professional and help you reach a wider audience.
Until next time,
